Our family is lamenting the fact that our wonderful friends are moving out of Alaska. We are so happy for them, yet selfishly wish they could stay.
We have known each other since our boys (who have both turned 11) were one year old. We've been through illnesses together, the births of our children, and the ups and downs of homeschooling together.
They are our Alaska family.
Our boys are particularly having a difficult time and spent this entire past weekend together in their own world. They finish each others sentences. They understand each other. They are two peas in a pod.

I will miss my dear friend who has untiringly watched over me, taught me etiquette when I have guests over (did you know you should offer water?), and forgiven me when my actions have been self-centered and foolish. We've watched each others families grow from toddlers to teens and shared many laughs and tears.
My step-dad once told me that I would be able to count my closest friends on one hand ~ and most of them would be family. He's right. Heather will always be counted as one of the five.
I've been blessed to have her all these years and wish her all the blessings and joy that will come from this new & wonderful chapter in their lives.
They have been a continual blessing to our family & we love them.
It's hard to say good-bye.
