Back to the Orthopedic Surgeon

I've always taken pride in the fact that my children don't break their bones.

Bo decided to ruin our running record last spring when she broke her growth plate in her wrist learning to snowboard.

I knew something was wrong when I got a call from the school and had to pick up Bo because she wrenched her knee. With her super high pain tolerance I kept asking what her pain was on a scale of 1-10. She kept saying two or three. This girl didn't shed a tear when she broke her arm! The fact that she wouldn't walk on it was a red flag though and I decided I'd better have it checked out.

Sure enough . . . Bo tore her meniscus.

I had no idea what the meniscus was! Apparently it is the padding between the two leg bones coming together.

She wishes, wishes, wishes she had some cool story behind the injury ~ like she spiked the volleyball breaking the nose of the girl on the other side of the net scoring the winning point.

Alas, Bo was running to the seminary building in the pouring rain with a gaggle of other girls under one umbrella and when she stopped . . . her knee didn't.

In a couple of weeks we'll check back in with the doc to see if surgery will be necessary to fix the injury. In the meantime, we are praying for a miracle.
