Friday Flashback #2 ~ 18 August 1998 Journal Entry

At this point in my life I was roughly 23 with a 20-month-old daughter & a 2-1/2-month-old son.

Friday Flashback #2

What a day! I had a wild morning with both children screaming. When Stern came home for lunch I started crying and then finally got both babies to sleep. I decided to work on putting up my raspberries I purchased yesterday and little did I know my troubles has just begun.

I started on the ingredients for making jam which are supposed to be stirred constantly. My burner was smoking a little which I didn't think much of because it would quit shortly. Well, it didn't and my smoke alarm suddenly went off. It took me forever to get it shut off!

Meanwhile, my jam was scorching. I got the alarm shut off, ran back into the kitchen and suddenly something under my burner ignited! It was a macaroni noodle that had caught on fire. I got that put out and salvaged the jam. Luckily I caught it before it scorched too much.

Needless to say all the commotion didn't wake the children and I was able to bottle seven quarts of raspberries and 8 1/2 pints of jam. Heavenly Father blessed me so I could finish. I am very grateful!

When Bo woke up I found her in a pile of diarrhea. She had pulled off her diaper and "finger painted" all over with it. Yikes!

Love,
jill 'E' jam
