Because Cheroo was born without her thyroid she has to get pokies a lot.
I've tried to make these days fun for her so it doesn't seem so traumatic.
We get ice cream and she gets to pick out a My Little Pony (which she always immediately comes home and cuts the tail off. . . doh!).
She still cries but it's not so bad ~ maybe.
Recently I said "Cheroo, would you like to come to town with me?"
I was shocked when I heard "I don't want to go on a date with you!"
Come to find out she now associates going out with me with the dreaded "pokies."
I can't win for losing! This had to change, and fast!! We had another blood draw coming up.
I took her with me to run errands and she didn't suspect anything when it was "poky day."
She is so innocent. She looked up at me with her big eyes and said "why are we here?"
I told her we just had to do a few things before we went to Target.
We entered the lab and when I told them her name I immediately felt her chubby arms wrap around my leg. Then the quiet whimpering began. It broke my heart.
She bravely held out her arm to get stuck, let out a boisterous yell, and it was over.
She even smiled for a picture afterward to send to her grandma.
I was so proud of her.
We then had a doughnut, checked out the hospital gift shop, and she picked out her Pony at Target.
Maybe dates with mom won't be so bad from now on . . .
